Braun new driver at MSR

Colin Braun has become a new full-season driver at Meyer Shank Racing in the 2023 WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

Braun has previously raced for the team back in 2009, and once again in 2013.

The 34-year-old American has been associated with CORE autosport for many years, where he was teamed up with Jon Bennett, with whom he won the LMC titles in 2014 and 2015, in addition to an LMP3 Championship in 2022.

In addition to the less powerful LMC and LMP3 cars, his peak years were 2018 and 2019, where he had two good seasons in LMP2 and DPi, where they actually were really close to winning the 2018 Championship against all DPi cars.

He was active in NASCAR some years ago – and even further back, he was the youngest driver ever at a Le Mans podium in 2007, where he finished second with Risi Competizione Ferrari alongside Tracy Krohn and Nic Jonsson.

He has always been lacking the very final bit, to secure a works contract, with one of the very big teams – he has that chance now at Meyer Shank racing, who is one of the ACURA ARX-06 LMDh teams, alongside Konica Minolta Wayne Taylor Racing.

Braun will share the car with Tom Blomqvist, who is the defending champion of the team. They will be joined by Simon Pagenaud and Helio Castroneves during the endurance opener.

Oliver Jarvis won the 2022 title alongside Blomqvist, and the Michelin Endurance Cup together with Blomqvist and Castroneves. The Brit has chosen to focus on the FIA WEC for 2023 with United Autosports, since there are multiple date clashes between the two series.

The ROAR test will run at Daytona on 20-22 January 2023, with the Rolex 24 at Daytona itself will run one week later.
